Uchicago

Several choral scholarships, seeded by a generous gift from the Women’s Board of the University of Chicago, are awarded each year to gifted students who may major in other fields but who are skilled singers. These students find their own education enriched by their choral leadership experience, even as their artistic work enriches the life of the University community as a whole.

Charles Montgomery Gray choral scholarships are awarded in memory of Charles Gray, distinguished historian and beloved husband of President Hanna Holborn Gray.

Bernard O. and Carol Jean Brown choral scholarships are awarded in honor of the long association of Bernard Brown (dean of Rockefeller Chapel from 1976 to 1991) and his wife Carol Jean with the chapel and its music programs.

Elsbeth Thilenius choral scholarships are awarded to students who make the Chapel congregation glad with their music.

This year's choral scholars are Chloe Blackshear, Hannah Landes, Woo Chan "Chaz" Lee, and Will Myers.
