Weddings
Facilities Available for Your Wedding
- Decorations and Photography
- Bubbles, bird seed, and flower petals may be thrown outside the Chapel.
Rice or confetti may not be used. Balloons may not be brought into the Chapel.
Ribbons and other decorations may not be taped to pews; check with your florist for pew clips. Candles are allowed in the Chapel provided you have a way to catch all the wax drippings; if they have hurricane shades you may use them in the Nave. The length of the Chapel's main aisle is 155 feet; the Chapel does not supply runners.
You are welcome to use flash photography and take videos of your ceremony.
- Music
- Organ music played by the Chapel organist is included in the rental fee.
Please contact the Chapel organist to discuss your music arrangements. Music
used during your ceremony must be approved by the Chapel organist. The use of
a guest organist must be approved by the Chapel organist.
The Chapel sound equipment does not accommodate the connection of any external devices such as tape or compact disk players. - Clergy
- You are responsible for arranging for your own officiant to perform the ceremony.
- Fees for the Use of Rockefeller Chapel
- Students: $800 with a non-refundable deposit of $200. (A student is
defined as a currently registered student in a University of Chicago degree
program.)
Non-students and alumni/ae: $1,500 with a non-refundable deposit of $250. - Extra fees
- Carillon music (tower bells) before ceremony and ringing peal afterwards: $150
- Sound equipment in addition to Chapel microphones: as required
- A rehearsal at 6 p.m. or later: $65
- A Saturday 5 - 8 p.m. wedding - $200.
- The wedding fee must be paid in full one month prior to the scheduled
